Newsletter Marketing – a Powerful Communication Tool

Every website that I happen to come across with, they often offer newsletters for whatever update they may have in the future. We all know that competition in internet marketing is very tough and that's why every visit to a site is much appreciated and valued. It's hard to get a visitor for your website and once you have one, how will you make him visit your page once again? This is the time I guess newsletters will serve their purpose.

A newsletter is defined as a form of advertising that is sent weekly, monthly or quarterly. Generally, it tells customers about the latest happenings inside the company, like product launchings, promos or events and anything you would like your subscribers would like to know. Aside from its advertising purpose, newsletters are now created for money making purposes and are sold directly to subscribers. But most importantly, newsletters are effective marketing tool that can advance your online business not to mention its cost effectiveness and can be a source of income by placing ads in it.

Newspapers and leaflets are examples of published newsletters, but for online users, newsletters are normally used by website owners to advertise to their readers and are sent via email. Generally, it's about one topic and is of interest to its subscribers. Newsletters are sent to customers and
prospects that can generate leads to your business. Basically, they are used to promote a business and additionally they can motivate customers to buy from you. If your business is new, you can educate your customers through newsletters and they can serve as a communication tool between you and your clients.

Along with the advantages, newsletters can also have their drawbacks. If you only use newsletters to inform your subscribers, there is a possibility that your messages will not be delivered to them. Because newsletters are sent via email, they can be rejected as spam. Most people's email accounts have spam filters, either provided by their ISP or they have installed themselves. So your email newsletter does not get through to those who subscribed and some spam filters block html that links to your website.

Another thing that newsletters are hard to disseminate because people are reluctant  to give out their email address fearing that their email could be passed to others that will deliver only junk emails. So when you do email newsletters to your subscribers, be careful in constructing your messages to avoid to be put in junk pile.
