the same time most fascinated by in spite of themselves, was her
power of telling stories and of making everything she talked

It should not be. If it is an effective newsletter, it will
serve the needs of readers (employees) as much as it serves the
needs of the publisher (management).
Let me explain how to ensure it serves employees as well as
management, by reviewing four key points I make in A Manager's
Guide to Newsletters: Communicating for Results.
Objectives and reader responses: First, state your objectives in
terms of reader responses. This forces you to focus on your

If you are selling anything, you should have a website. If you
are selling ebooks, you should consider it mandatory. How many

want.
You can pay someone to design a gorgeous site for you, loaded
with graphics, complete ... Read the rest of this entry »

The recent trend towards HTML email really disturbs me. I, for
one, do not like HTML email. If I want to see the glitz and
color, I will go to your website, but send me plain text in your

belongs in web pages.
One major concern is bandwidth. HTML email files are much larger
than plain text. I resent the fact that it takes longer to
download the HTML email from my server. ... Read the rest of this entry »

Free is good. Free is great because it doesn't cost anything.
That's probably why so many marketers have a tendency to
gravitate towards free methods of promoting their site. It makes
perfect sense.
However, what many Internet marketers forget is that nothing is
free -- absolutely nothing. It's a simple, fundamental concept
of economics: "There are no free lunches." If you spend time
implementing a free marketing method, you've still incurred a
cost: your time.
And many people forget that time ... Read the rest of this entry »
